DIY…WEDDING!!

One of my dearest friend’s from high school in Alabama happens to live here in LA.  She was married this past June  and the girl worked her little hiney off making EVERYTHING for the big day.  She started planning the day she got the ring on her finger (like most brides) and after work every night she went home and crafted. She crafted on the weekends, she crafted in her sleep, she crafted while sitting in traffic on her way home from work all while her fiancé was as supportive as can be and crafting right along side of her. She had this thing to a T like the producer that she is would. I was impressed with her dedication and tried to be around as much as possible to lend a helping hand.  The whole wedding was dripping with Sean and Kate, their sense of humor, their love, and their eclectic creativity…all on a budget! If there is one thing to know and love about Kate, it is that she never takes herself too seriously, a quality I admire immensly.

Kate and Sean chose to forgo the flowers and make their own.  The first photo was the bouquet that kate carried down the aisle. The second was the bridesmaids and the fourth was the boutonniere for the groomsmen.

The reception was filled with so many fun things, games, and color. They spent months making 1000 origami cranes for good luck, which is a Japanese tradition.  Instead of table numbers you were seated at a table named after an 80’s movie.  They made lord knows how many yarn balls, had friends collect lots of wine and liquor bottles to use as vases, stitched the table cloths, folded tissue paper pom poms, and the list really just keeps going and going. So many fun interactions for the guests as well like the photo booth complete with props, a postcard to color, guessing games, and fun toys from a thirty something’s childhood as the favor. Check out the photos!

A big congrats to Sean and Kate and props to all their hard work! It was a great wedding and I am super thankful to have been a part of it!

  2. Annie, you rocked out on so many things for this wedding. The table cloths got done so fast because you stitched most of them and you hosted not only an engagement brunch which was spectacular but you also hosted the yarn ball makin party which included the wine bottle spray painting session. Your hands were all over this thing! I wouldnt have finished without you that is fo sho!
